DUFIL PRIMA FOODS INTRODUCES POWER OIL, A HEART-FRIENDLY VEGETABLE OIL
DUFIL Prima Foods Plc, makers of Indomie, has introduced heart-friendly vegetable cooking oil, Power Oil, into the Nigeria market.
Chief Executive Officer, Dufil Prima Plc, Mr. Deepak Singhal, said the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) and National Agency for Food Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC)-approved product was introduced in the company’s quest to plug the gaps in the vegetable oil industry and safeguard the health of Nigerian consumers with quality cooking oil.
Singhal at the official launch of the product last week in Lagos said: “Unbranded oil, which the majority of Nigerians consume, is often adulterated and unhygienic. The people in the lower economic stratum don’t have access to branded oil because it is very expensive. We identified this gap and decided to launch a healthy and affordable cooking oil.”
Singhal also disclosed that adulterated oil, which usually contains fat in high quantity, could cause obesity, heart disease and cancer; while cholesterol could increase the risk of stroke and blocked arteries. “Power Oil will check all of that by giving consumers quality at affordable prices. With that, they would no longer jeopardise their health by purchasing vegetable oil from unreliable sources,” he quipped.
Deputy Director, Food Products and Others, NAFDAC, Mrs. Abisola Olasumbo Adekoya, affirmed that Power Oil was safe for consumption, adding that “unlike some vegetable oil brands in the market that cause heart problems, Power Oil is cholesterol-free and therefore ideal for the body.”
